Swahili villaThis villa is an Irish psychiatrist who lives in London. Built in Swahili style and occupies an area of 465 m2 on a plot of 2 acres. Sits on the coast of the Kenyan island of Lamu. The place is really amazing – a beautiful sandy beach, palm trees and clear water. I hope there are not many hurricanes there. The house is a creation of designer Leslie Kenyan Dakuart that not only designs houses, but they built and furnished. According to its clients, Michael Burke and his wife, fate has sent them to her and this place. They fell in love in him and in the creations of Leslie. The villa was built in the Swahili style, characterized by balance, symmetry, simplicity and use of local materials. A career on the mainland are delivered as smooth as marble, coral blocks, which are plastered with traditional Swahili plaster – cement solution colored with ocher. For the porch roof material is used palms grown specifically for this purpose. The beams of the roof are of wood from Mangrove islands that lack of roads was brought by boat Doe. Surrounded by lower house porches. The front is designed for entertainment and dinner candles / lanterns in the case of /. But those who are sleeping to be more secluded. The corridor is decorated with turtles made of the same material, which has plastered walls. The reason for this are sea turtles that come to this beach to lay their eggs. In mahogany door leading to patio with arches, colonnades and a pool with a huge emerald in the middle! At the upper level front of the house consists of a recreation area called by local baraza / meeting / with a roof of palm leaves and traditional Lamu built stone benches covered with cushions of kanga cloth and decorated with Swahili proverbs. Is certainly an ideal place for relaxation and watching the sunset after a day swimming, boating, or perhaps diving. Back top has been down for a massage area, surrounded by wooden bars, but subsequently made whole apartment.

Nice looking Villa M2

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Villa M2Again we are on Swedish land, but this time to stay in a villa. It was called Villa M2. Fully exercised on behalf of its design – minimalist. It was built by Lindvall A & D in Malmo. The construction was completed in 2008. The design is very minimalist, clean, tight in Swedish, but very happy stylish and beautiful. Plain white walls and straight lines are diversifying from the broken structure and large windows. The front facade overlooks the lake, which has previously been a career. Swedes have a nice habit to turn the depleted quarries in lakes. Here, according to the architects was a great sight, why the huge windows are placed. This provides a large amount of light. A view from the bedroom on the second floor probably really is incredible. Would be nice to make one or two pictures, because the lake is barely visible in the picture of the canteen. The rear facade is completely devoid of unnecessary elements, as seen at the road. There are only a door and a long, low window looks like a pillbox embrasure. The door itself is large and flat, almost square. Furniture and accessories are specially designed for this house. Few enough for my taste, but may not be reached for more money as they are so special.

Luxury Ibiza villa – Can Shana

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Can ShanaCan Shana is a gorgeous villa on Ibiza, near Santa Gertrudis. When I saw her and decided that we should write something about it, as it is situated at party place in Europe, maybe in the world. A place where for years a friend wants to go. I help with finding accommodation. The villa is a farm house built in typical local rural type. But it is renovated and … no words. Whole white, with a few wood accents – a wooden beam on the exterior columns, wooden frames, unpainted ceiling in one part. Which, in turn, with its structure, which is not hidden from view, reminiscent of origin and region. Great house, my favorite combination – white, wood, spacious interior! Agency that her rent – Mr & Mrs Smith, it describe with successful pun “Finca exterior, funky interior”, ie rural exterior, funky interior. Among other things this agency has a show for broadcast in our hotels in Discovery Travel and Living. The villa has 8 locations in 4 bedrooms having a single guest. It is located amidst the greenery of a beautiful garden in rural area. Has the perfect pool and billiard table near him. The interior is open, there are plenty of free space. Several parts form a spacious common room – 2 recreational areas, dining room and kitchen. One corner is a lounge with modern settee, coach, table and TV. Another has a built-in sofas, coffee table and fireplace. Extends over this and the beautiful wooden ceiling, projecting the surrounding whiteness. (more…)
