The house of ruins is a modern house, built among the ruins of stone barn in the bag, Latvia. But they are not used as part of its structure, but were upgraded and converted into a wall surrounding the building and forming a cozy courtyard. So the house in ruins is protected from the winds of the open plain, which is from foreign eyes, giving their owners privacy. The house was built in 2002, has an area of 200 square meters and was designed by Latvian NRJA. The project has received the award from the Latvian Architecture Prize (2005), the Best Technology Award from the Interior Digest Magazine (exclusive of implementation of modern design, construction and electronic technology, 2006) and nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award (2007). And this year the competition involved in the Building of the year 2009 of ArchDaily. The combination of ancient and modern exterior interior is quite interesting and makes a striking contrast. This is optional. Another is both their desire to have privacy, yet be able to enjoy the surrounding area. This is achieved by windows are left in the old wall and through the flat roof, which leads to a spiral staircase and a playground, which reveals the entire plane. Together with the beautiful exterior and amazing style, the house is offering comfortable living and nice bedroom.
